Description
Mirecourt, France had been a center for making violins and other stringed instruments since the 16th century. Master luthier Marc Laberte allows Col. Lee D. Cady to hold 'Le Lever du Soleil,' a violin made by Antonio Stradivari in 1677. Cady and other officers of the 21st General Hospital visited M. Laberte's violin shop in Mirecourt, France on July 6, 1945.
